change of plans.

we were planning to spend the evening at the farm. my hair was messy and my outfit was...well, suitable for a farm. but mr.a worked late and we didn't make it there; so instead we all went out for a late dinner. i threw my hair up and threw this outfit on. it may not be the greatest outfit i've ever worn, but it was easy and simple and comfortable. three criteria that many moms have, yet haven't achieved in a way that's also cute and relatively polished. i didn't intend this post to be a lesson in dressing, but it really can be very simple if you start with good, easy-to-wear basics.
ie: this skirt. cute+neutral+comfortable=wearable.
anyway, it's pretty risky taking two kids to dinner at a quarter to eight, but they were champs and we made sure to keep them well-distracted while we waited for our food. piper and i played the word games on the kids menu while quinn and mr.a colored pictures. then we all played several rounds of eye spy.
piper would "spy" a person each time and gave the most hilarious (and well-fitting) descriptions. my favorite being, "i spy with my little eye, someone that is smarter than everyone else at our table." the answer? herself.

she gets that confidence from her dad.

  1. you always look SO natural and PRETTY!

seeing your hair like that makes me want to grow mine long again.

  2. oh my -- piper's self-confidence is beautiful!! i will think of that (and perhaps steal her line) at our next I Spy session. enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  3. That's it, I'm googling your shoes. I Want. Them.
