think.

thankful thursday.

my sister recently told me about a time when her employer said to her,
"never let a job steal your joy."
my thought was, "what if your job is parenting?"
there are times (okay, at least once a day) when i feel so burned out on this mothering gig. but, i can't exactly put my two weeks in.

i know you're always told to look at the big picture, this won't last forever, but sometimes the big picture freaks me out. thinking about spending the next twenty years raising kids overwhelms me. and, though i'm not normally a detail-oriented person, when i focus on the little things, i realize how good i have it. how simple and lovely my job can be. it's the little things that help me get my joy back....

i painted these loops in piper's room like, over a year ago, and she still says, "thank-you for painting these curlies in my room, momma!"
*
the feeling of quinn's tiny fingers on my bare side as i nurse her.
*
this morning piper wanted to watch doh, diedo, doh (go, diego, go!). it just happened to be on (thank-you, nickelodeon) and she told me i was the best mommy in the whole world.
*
i love that quinn's a night owl and piper's an early bird.
*
piper shares my love of dress-up.
*
quinn has these cheeks. they are just smoochtastic.
*
piper always let's me know when i look "bootiful."
*
piper looks like her daddy and acts like her mommy.
*
quinn looks like her mommy and acts like her daddy.
*
piper's many speech impediments make every sentence hilarious. and usually give everything a double-entendre.
*
quinn's smile. oh, that smile.
i hope you find joy in the little things today.

I LOVED this one! I feel the same way a whole lot...but I love the little things. If I didn't, I would have put in my two weeks a long long time ago!
